Around the world, visionary change agents are hard at work incubating new approaches to the planet’s toughest challenges. Yet they’re often doing so without taking advantage of the latest tools and thinking in technology, communications and innovation – or a network of experts, peers, and supporters who can help them truly change the world.

The PopTech Social Innovation Fellows program is designed to help fill that gap – to equip world-changing innovators with the tools, insights, visibility and social network that can help them scale their impacts to new heights.

The Fellows

Each year, PopTech selects a small number of high potential change agents from around the world who are working on disruptive innovations in the areas of healthcare, livelihood development, environment, humanitarian aid/relief, education, and civic engagement, among many others. Fellows work in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds, have a positive track record as leaders in social innovation, and are working in organizations that are well positioned for sustainable growth.

The Program

Fellows participate in a special training program, held this year from October 15-21, 2015, on an island off the coast of Maine. Immediately following – from October 22-24, 2015 – Fellows attend and give short presentations at the "PopTech annual conference":/conferences, which brings together a global network of cutting-edge leaders, thinkers and doers from many different disciplines. Fellows receive prominent placement at the event, with the potential of interviews with media attendees and collaborative sessions with members of the PopTech network that can help amplify the impact of Fellow’s organizations and their professional profiles.

Impact

As a result of participation in this program, alumni Fellows have substantially improved their media profiles and been exposed to new opportunities for communicating their work, have formed new collaborative partnerships, and have accessed new avenues of organizational support. When asked to describe the program in a single word, most Fellows say “transformational.”

Our broader goal is to develop a corps of visible and accomplished innovators and entrepreneurs who can provide leadership, explore new collaborative approaches, and engage with the public on a variety of issues of critical importance to the nation and the planet. In so doing, we hope to bolster the field of social innovation and create new, multidisciplinary collaboration opportunities that have high potential for impact and scale.
