Pop!Tech Participation Grants In our effort to make Pop!Tech accessible to the widest array of participants possible, we award a limited number of grants to social entrepreneurs, NGO leaders, educators, social activists, students, and others who would both benefit from and contribute to the Pop!Tech experience, but for whom the cost is prohibitive. For the first year ever, we're extending the program to include the children of participants. Many of you have voiced a desire to bring children to the conference, but found the cost prohibitive. Now, every participant can apply for Grants for up to two children per household, through college age. Participation Grants are needs-based and take the form of discounted tickets to the Pop!Tech conference. In most cases awards will be in the range of $500-1000. Participation Grants are awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. Due to the limited size of this program, we cannot guarantee an award to every applicant. Please note that the Participation Grants program is distinct and separate from the Social Innovations Fellows Program. Application instructions for the 2008 program are detailed below. In recognition of the long-time commitment of Barbara Shotwell and Jeannie Dissette, both members of the original organizing group of Pop!Tech, two Participation Grants are awarded each year in their memory. To Apply: Please send an email to grants@poptech.org. Be sure to include pertinent information about yourself, including your background, your field or the project on which you are working, relevant web links (if you have any), what you hope to derive from participating, and a general statement of financial need. Please include 1-2 references – those from recent Pop!Tech participants are particularly helpful. Please also indicate the minimum amount that would make your participation possible, so that we can assist the largest number of individuals. Finally, be sure to include your daytime telephone number. If you have questions, please email grants@poptech.org.
