Notre Dame student Julia Burke has brilliantly rethought the humble wall socket and snagged herself a well-earned 2006 IDEA Award. Originally created for the elderly (and presumably everyone who has flailed, blindly, trying to reach an outlet tucked byhind a sofa) Julia’s redesign makes so much visual sense that it doesn’t require a lot of elaboration. Only one mystery remains — when can we get our hands on them?
